World Expo will be held in Shanghai, China, from May 1st to October 31st, 2010. World Expo is a culturally and artistically rich event that offers youths from around the world an opportunity to experience the core values of this World Expo focus - "Understanding, Communication, Gathering and Co-operation".
“World Youth Carnival 2010”, whose theme is Youth, Passion, Wisdom and Harmony will be held in June/July, 2010 and is part of various activities that will make up the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. At that time, outstanding youths will bring their own music style and culture, such as: Choir/Chorus, Wind Ensemble / Concert Band, Chamber Orchestra, Marching Band, Symphony orchestra, Jazz band, Electro-acoustic, Rock and Percussion etc. The carnival will also incorporate various themes and a spectacular opening and closing ceremony representing all of the world’s youth!
The World Youth Carnival aims to build an audio-visual platform for youth from all over the world and also offers a wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange and is expecting up to 4,020 performers (2,010 domestic performers and 2,010 foreign performers), another 10,000 participants from 18 countries and 72 groups across five continents to enjoy this event together. This will truly be a great experience to remember!
The World Youth Carnival also offers your ensemble an excellent opportunity to meet with some of the finest universities in China, present an indoor performance within Expo Park, experience the Chinese culture and have the chance to interact with like minded peers from all over the world! In addition, a broad range of exciting cultural events and activities will be offered to the participants inside and outside the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Park! During the event, the participants will travel to other China’s well-known cities such as Beijing, Hangzhou, Xi’an etc. to perform, sightseeing, do charity and exchange activities! It is expected that global media will report this event as it develops and there will be additional performance opportunities inside and outside expo parks for attending groups.

About the World Expo and Shanghai 2010
The World Expo is a large-scale, global, non-commercial expo. The hosting of the World Expo must be applied for by a country and approved by the international World Expo committee. Expo aims to promote the exchange of ideas and development of the world economy, culture, science and technology, to allow exhibitors to publicise and display their achievements and improve international relationships.
Expo 2010 will be held in Shanghai, China between May 1st and October 31st, 2010. The theme of the exposition will be "Better City – Better Life" and signifies Shanghai's new status in the 21st century as a major economic and cultural center. It is expected to generate the largest number of visitors in the history of the world's fairs in terms of gross numbers, with over 70 million visitors anticipated to attend Expo events.
Venues / Performances
Ensembles which are invited to attend the 2010 Shanghai World Expo “World Youth Carnival” between June 20th – July 3rd, 2010, will be given the opportunity to perform at various venues throughout Shanghai (exact venue availability is TBC). Ensembles may have the option to perform in the following venues during the 2010 Shanghai World Expo “World Youth Carnival”:

NB: this venue is currently TBC and will only be available for one day during the period June 20-July 3,2010. The exact date of the venue availability is currently TBA.
Located in the southeast of the Expo site, the Shanghai World Expo Performing Arts Center will resemble a flying saucer on eastern bank of the Huangpu River. It will have a floor area of 80,000 square meters - 10,000 square meters larger than the Shanghai Grand Theater - and hold audiences of up to 18,000.
The center, when completed by the end of 2009, will become the city's first circular performance facility whose interior structure is reconfigurable in three dimensions, according to designers.
